The Hearts Behind the Hammers

Life tried to break us. We built Smash City instead.

They say that nothing in life will be easy - but no one really knows how hard life will be until you live through it.

​

Between the two of us, we've walked through some of life's hardest battles - from surviving abusive relationships, the deep ache of multiple infant losses, to rebuilding ourselves after seasons we thought might break us for good. Along the way, we've celebrated the joy of becoming parents, and Janelle's even a grandma! We also discovered that healing doesn't come all at once - it comes in pieces, often in unexpected ways.

For Janelle, the journey included finding support at places like The Dougy Center, A Safe Place, and connecting with other nonprofits such as the Haven Rose Foundation and Hope's Garden Maternity Home. For Eric, it meant rediscovering joy, faith, and laughter after many years of carrying pain that felt too heavy to name. Together, we learned that healing takes courage - and sometimes, it takes swinging a sledgehammer.

Smash City is more than an entertainment venue: it's a space for release, redemption, and healing. It's a place where people can shatter more than just glass - they can break the chains of stress, grief, fear or anger, and leave feeling lighter than when they walked in.

​

Our mission is to give back to the community that once held us up. That's why we plan to partner with nonprofits, local junk haulers, offer free sessions to clients in need, host "dump your junk" community days, and create special events that remind people they're not alone.

​

This is more than our business. This is our testimony - that broken pieces can become something powerful, joyful, and new again.
